Our goal was to make it easier for users to use our site. For example, we have updated our “old” bbPress plugin to the newer 2.0+ which comes with many features and fixes that 1.0 didn’t have. You can now subscribe to topics so you will get a notification in your email if there is an activity on the topic you’re following! We have also added a “Privacy Reply” function where you can paste in sensitive information such as your site URL or WordPress backend login so ONLY the site support will see allowing for faster support from us. Unfortunately, with the update to bbPress 2.0+, it was too much work to port over the old topics so we would need to start fresh! We have also made the site user interface more user friendly.

This plugin allows you to conveniently add products to your cart via a “drag and drop” style. This gives a whole new shopping experience and especially useful for small gadgets and things.

While this is still a beta, we would love any feedbacks including bugs or issues. You can find support for this plugin in the support forums in your member dashboard.

I am excited to introduce to you the new and improved versions of our themes. Version 2.1! This is a major release and accompanies many added features and bug fixes. Here are some featured items that made it into this release.

WARNING: Because this is a major release, I would suggest you deploy this on a staging site first and make sure everything is running as should before launching it to your live site. And as always, do a full backup of your site files and database prior to updating your theme.

Some of the newly added shortcodes or features may not be in your theme instructions yet but we will be adding them in this week. We will make written tutorials and video tutorials.

Not long ago, we hit one of our big milestones with our themes and soon we will be hitting another big milestone which we plan on releasing around the 4th quarter of this year. This will be a BIG one! Without speaking too much about it, I’ll just list some of the features you should expect to see coming up.

• Multiple homepage layouts (you will be able to choose from 4 or 5 different layouts)
• Product category accordion widget
• Product price filter widget with price range
• Custom product filter system (so your customers can shop faster by filtering only what they want to see)
• Dummy data (many people asked for this)
• Ability to export theme settings so it will never be lost
• Pre-designed background designs, patterns and more…
• A smarter product search.
• Ability to change out colors/font throughout the site like the text/headings…etc
• Sales and promotion widgets that can be placed in various location of your site during any promotions and it can even be set on a timer and will automatically display and hide when time is up
• Top Secret…Ok so this last one is a top secret feature which will be revealed closer to launch and this is a big one!

UPDATE (7/5/2012):
We’re able to get a lot of the above mentioned items coded so we plan to publish a release real soon, possibly by next week. However you will see we crossed out the first item (different homepage layouts) because it would require us to completely overhaul the code as originally there were no platform/framework to do such thing. So instead we will add this feature to a new theme instead.

But stay tuned as we’re about to launch the next BIG update!

Ok I guess the cats out of the bag!! Ok the top secret feature is that now all themes support WooCommerce plugin as well!! That means you have a choice to use either WPEC or WooCommerce!! I can’t stress how much value that is added to the themes! I hope this will give you guys more options in the future!

Today marks a huge milestone for our themes. We have come a long way. I am proud to announce that all of our themes have finally made it to version 2.0. What does that mean? Your asked? Well let just include you guys in on a few features and enhancements that we did.

Mobile Ready
As you may know that the world of technology is continuously advancing even as we speak. Along with those advancements, are mobile phones. New phones come out almost monthly and mobile browsers becoming more and more similar to their desktop counterparts. In addition, faster and faster wireless speeds allow us developers to develop an even more sophisticated site. Traditionally, a site viewed on the phone, displays as it were on the desktop. This poses an issue because you’re fitting a wide desktop version of the site on a little tiny handheld phone. Without going into the specifics, this causes an user interface issue as people will have a hard time navigating your site and also they would probably have to zoom in and out multiple times just to get to where they want to be. All of what I have just explained isn’t new news at all, however we have implemented all our themes to be fully responsive, mobile ready! That means you can view your site on mobile devices such as iPhone, Android, iPad..etc and your site will automatically format itself to display well on them. It will remove all unnecessary elements and keep only the crucial information for that format.

Custom Portfolio
We’ve added a custom portfolio section where you can showcase and display any glorious work you want. With just putting in different tags, you can group your portfolio by categories during display and allow users to filter them by groups so they can see only the groups they want at a time.

Custom Sidebar Widgets
We’ve added ability for you to create sidebar widgets on any one page or post you want! Isn’t that awesome? That means any widget you create for that particular page or post will ONLY show up when that page gets loaded and not on any other page. This way you can target specific type of information you want on those specific pages. For example, you have a jewelry page with “earrings”. So you can create a widget just for that page to show all the featured earrings you have on sale. That is just one example and the possibilities are limitless.

Custom Sidebar Layout
After about a year of developing these themes, we wanted a way to give more control to the site owners when it comes to displaying a certain page or post. What we have came up with is a way for you to choose individually of other pages or posts, a sidebar layout. So imagine globally you have set to use a left sidebar on all pages. Now I can go into just one of the page and override the global settings and turn off the sidebar. I can even choose to use a right sidebar or even both sidebars. With this new implementation, it gives you full flexibility to further customize your site and how you want your customers to view it.

As you just read, those are some of the key features and enhancements that we’ve added to our 2.0 themes. There are a lot more in which you can see in the changelog of your theme. 2012 is an exciting year and we plan to make our themes even better and as always we value our customer’s feedback so if you have anything you want to see implemented, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line here-> Feature Request

At Splashing Pixels, we are busy working on new themes and refining our existing themes. We have many “big” ideas coming down the pipeline. This will all be rolled out next year. But these ideas would not be complete until we hear from our current and loyal customers. We believe customers’ ideas are crucial to any successful business as you guys are the ones actually using our product day in and day out.

Let’s start with the glorious homepage where you will see a beautiful banner slider that is totally customizable. Below that you will see a product carousel to navigate to different featured products. This area is highly customizable where you can featured the category you want, change the sliding effects, the speed, and more…

Bravo comes with our infamous Quick View System for a better shopping experience. This gives your customer the options to take a quick look at your products and be able to put items in the cart without having to go into the product details page.

The cart fly-out with product thumbnails make it easy to update your cart and checkout in a couple of clicks.

As all Splashing Pixels themes you have the option to show your products in grid view or list view. From the grid view you can see product image, name, price, the sale tags and access to the Quick-View.

The default view offers access to the full description, all the product variations, the product rating and our custom light-box to enlarge the product thumbnail.

The product details page offers the product multiview with lightbox to see the product images in full high quality size. The Facebook auto generated “Like” button and all other social media options will help your product to spread the voice!

Here you can see the lightbox that has full access to all product images.

You can also enable a fancy pop up that appears after a customer adds an item to the cart to give them the option to keep shopping or go to checkout.
